Mix & Match

Mix & Match: All Natural Hair Care Product Recipes Here are a few of my favorite homemade hair care recipes:

Honey-Shea Avocado Hair Smoothie (Deep Conditioner)

Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado
1 tsp of coconut oil
1tsp of honey
1/2 cup of shea butter (raw, unrefined; no need to melt)
EVOO

In a blender mix the avocado, coconut oil, honey, and shea butter. Pulse until well incorporated adding EVOO to smooth the mixture out. Continue to blend and add EVOO until the mix is smoothie like and smooth in consistency. Apply generously to hair, cover with conditioning cap, and allow to set for at least 30 minutes. You can steam the hair or just cover with a heavy towel or turban.

Bentonite Clay Hair Mud Wash

Ingredients:
Equal Parts:
Sodium or Calcium Bentonite Clay
AVJ (Aloe Vera Juice)
ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar)
1 tsp of Raw Organic Honey
A few drops of your favorite EO (Essential Oil)
A few drops of your favorite oils (EVOO, EVCO, Sweet Almond, Castor, whatever floats your boat)

In a non metal bowl with a non metal spoon, combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly. Once well combined, you can either use the mixture as is or water it down a bit (this is totally up to you). If you decide to water the mixture down, separate what you intend to use from the rest of the batch!! Please refer to my YouTube Tutorial Video to see the process.

Shea Body Butter

Ingredients:

  • Roughly 2 cups of raw Shea Butter
  • 2 tsps of EVCO
  • 2tsps of Jojoba Oil
  • 1 tbsp of EVOO
  • a few drops of any EO of your choice - it's just for the scent
Allow the shea butter to sit out and soften. Once softened, whip it until it's nice and creamy. I use a hand mixer for this, but I have seen it done with a simple whisk. Once the shea butter had been whipped to a nice creamy consistency, add the oils.and whip until its well mixed, light, and fluffy. Fold in a few drops of your favorite EO and place in an airtight jar.

Shea Daily Moisturizer Cream

Ingredients

  • Roughly 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of EVCO
  • 1 tsp of Raw Organic Honey
  • 1 tsp of Sweet Almond Oil
  • A few drops of Vitamin E
  • Roughly 2 - 3 cups of Raw Shea Butter
  • 1 tsp of EVOO
  • 1/2 tsp of Avocado Oil
  • 1/2 tsp of Jojoba Oil
You also want to make this with softened, creamed shea butter. In a large mixing bowl, mix the shea butter, honey, oils, and vitamin E. Mix until well incorporated and fluffy. If the consistancy is too thick for your liking, add more EVCO. I use this as a daily moisturzer. The honey and EVCO mixture gives my hair an amazing shine and it smells incredible! This is my favorite recipe because if I cut the EVCO in half, I can also use this as a styling pomade. Works wonders for my fly aways and frizz.
